Why Flash Doesn’t Always Guarantee a Successful Website

Some people think Flash is the panacea for all website design related requirements with respect to ensuring the success of the website. The problem with such thoughts is that they seek to make flash the focal point of the website’s design and people tend to believe that it really does not matter if the website is up to the mark or not; as long as the Flash is striking in nature, there is a good chance that the website will be successful.

Now, there was a time when such thoughts held water and Flash actually could manage to attract the attention of online visitors. There were plenty of websites that were successful just because they used Flash to attract and engage website visitors. But, Flash doesn’t cut as much ice any more. No doubt a well-designed flash website still manages to grab eyeballs, but the problem lies in the fact that the website is not just highly regarded by website visitors just because it is Flash based. The website needs to have certain other features that ensure better user engagement. Flash alone won’t do the trick.

One of the reasons why even website designers don’t think that Flash is a great idea anymore is because they have realized that websites are more a matter of form and function rather than just form alone. They can put in every effort to ensure that their Flash animation looks out of this world, but if they do give equal or more attention to the functionality of the website there is every chance that the website will fail.

Yet another reason that leads to flash not being such a great determinant of website success is that not many website owners now have the time to go through a website’s visuals. All they are looking for is information that is presented to them quickly and conveniently and in a manner that allows them to assimilate this information quickly and without any confusion. Flash simply takes up the time of visitors who are bound to feel irritated waiting for the Flash animation to load in order to access the web page.

But all this is not to say that a Flash website is never successful. It is successful if Flash is used only when needed and more importantly, if a website belongs to a domain that makes using flash a very good idea. If Flash is only used for the heck of it, the website design will never be successful.
