Yoga has been practiced for more than 5,000 years and is widely recognized for its physical benefits. These include increased strength, flexibility and muscle tone. Other effects of a yoga practice include postural awareness, mental calmness, stress reduction and better breathing. But the thing that I am most attracted to, fascinated by, and in awe of, is the incredible healing power of yoga.
Medical studies have shown that yoga can help boost the immune system and improve the symptoms of certain conditions and ailments such as back pain, anxiety, insomnia, migraine headaches, menopause, high blood pressure and obesity. This far reaching effect that yoga can have in someone's life is what inspires me to be a yoga teacher. And so, this is my humble offering for you...
If your interest is in achieving the most difficult, pretzel-like yoga poses there are, then I am probably not the teacher for you. If, however, you are at a point in your life where you want to reconnect with your body, rediscover yourself and bring a healthy balance into your life, I invite you to try one of my classes. It would be an absolute honor to share in your process and practice.
Namaste,
Alicia Suárez
Our bodies are inhabited by the ocean. Like its waves, the breath comes and goes bringing change into our lives.
