The LEAD Foundation was created by the Egyptian private sector to help Egyptians help themselves.

The LEAD Foundation is an Egyptian NGO, originally supported by contributions from the Egyptian private sector, technical assistance from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which is part of the World Bank Group, and contributions from the people of the United States of America, through USAID. The Foundation was founded under NGO law number 84/2002. The Board of Directors of the Foundation consists of some of the leading industrialists in Egypt, and is chaired by Mohamed Mansour. The Foundation will serve as an umbrella structure housing different projects.
