Climate Change Outreach and Communications Coordinator
The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science invites applications for an Outreach Coordinator.  The successful candidate will work in partnership with the Maryland Departments of the Environment and Natural Resources at their Baltimore and Annapolis offices.  The successful candidate will produce outreach materials and give presentations in concert with the MDE communications office and DNR’s Climate Change Planning and Policy program.  For over five years, UMCES has worked on developing assessments, producing reports, and communicating the mitigation, impacts, and adaptation to climate change in partnership with the State agencies. 
 Typical areas of responsibility for this position will include:

Draft a statewide outreach and education plan for promoting the state’s energy efficiency programs and increasing public awareness of the impacts of climate change;
Support the development, from conceptualization to final product, of a host of collateral materials, such as fact sheets, brochures, and web-based materials, focusing on reducing greenhouse gases and adaptation strategies;
Develop and give presentations focused on the impacts and adaptation to climate change to a variety of audiences including citizen groups, local governments, private sector, and other stakeholders; and
Assist in the interagency coordination of outreach and communication planning between multiple state agencies, UMCES, and other key institutions.   

Candidates should have a college or advanced degree with at least five years of professional experience, in outreach of scientific-based information and policy. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required with a background in environmental sciences highly desired.
