Pablo Picasso once said, “I paint as I think them, not as I see them.” and I agree. Art is a form of expression. A portal through which you can set your imagination free. With my paintings I set myself free. Creating a parallel universe in which rainbows collide with mirages and putting on canvas what only my mind can see. Inspiration can come from the elements. From wind, water, fire and the earth. It can come from a falling autumn leaf. The way it settles on the ground and becomes one with it. The way it changes colours from shades of aquamarine and emerald green to crimson, red and brown. Until it becomes grey, the colour of ashes as it melts into the earth. Inspiration can come from evolution. From sights and from sounds. From a child’s cotton candy. I have been inspired by raindrops and melting candles. By thoughts, poetry and melodies. When inspiration, imagination and expression combine in the hearts and minds of mortal souls, ART is born. Brought up in Lahore, the city of lights and wonders. I have been exposed to culture and heritage in a way that many have not. I have traveled all around the world, discovering the artist within me. From the articulate architecture of the The Mughal Empire to the immaculate European Churches, I have dug into the history and customs of different countries to feed my artiste soul. Pakistan has a rich cultural and artistic background. I want the world to see what we have to offer. I want to unveil what lies beneath the warm smiles of our sun-burnt nation. The social evils, the pain and the passion. I want to carry my identity with me as I take my paintings to a whole new level.
