MyRespitePlace.com is a custom healthcare directory specifically focused on providing information about palliative care providers within the palliative care industry. Prior to this directory, palliative care providers were hard pressed to find a place on the Internet where they could list information about their services as well as links and information to palliative care resources around the country. We focused on providing the client with a custom web design in order to help provide users with an easy-to-use layout in which they could find the information that they needed without complication. We started by conducting research on the target market for this client as well as a color scheme that would accurately reflect the feel of the site. What we ended up with was a color scheme that included gray, white and blue due to studies that had shown that these colors encouraged a feeling of calm in people. This color palette combined with simple search functions made the web site both pleasing to the eyes as well as easy to use. We also created a blog where “Rascal” (the website's mascot) could blog about palliative care issues as well as other health-related topics. We also created a forum for the discussion of health topics and problems as well as an article section for more in-depth tutorials about palliative care. View WebBizIdeas Blog
